Depending on different designs, the shape of the ultrasonic transducer mainly includes column type (where the diameters of the front and rear metal cover plates are the same), horn type (where the diameter of the front cover plate is gradually reduced in an arc shape), and column type with a section in the middle.

In ultrasonic transducer manufacturing, a static compressive prestress is essential because piezoceramics are weak in tension. This prestress ensures that the piezoceramics do not experience tensile stress during ultrasonic vibration, which could damage them. Additionally, it guarantees good contact at the piezoceramic interfaces, minimizing acoustic wave loss. The prestress must be strong enough to prevent both ultrasonic tensile stress and lateral slippage of the piezoceramics.
As the prestress increases, the impedance and frequency of the piezoelectric ceramic become more stable. A higher prestress can reduce the transducer's impedance, but excessive prestress is not ideal, as too much can negatively affect performance. Therefore, finding the optimal level of prestress is critical for producing high-quality ultrasonic transducers.
